SEE YOU AT THE HOUSE, MALCOLM!!

It is so hard to lose dear friends - especially when it is so totally out of left field.  Thursday evening our friend had a massive stroke and yesterday the Lord called him home.  Malcolm was a "gentle" man who truly loved the Lord.  He was a quiet man, but when he did say something it was relevant and easy to understand.  We will miss him, but we know he is with the Lord.  In fact I would bet that he is saying, "Lord, help them through this.  Keep reminding them that I am with you and nothing is better than that!!"  Save us room at the table, Malcolm.  We will see you at the house!

Dear  family and friends, if I haven't told you lately that I love you, please know that I do very much.  Take care!!

KEEP YOUR CLOTHES ON!!!

How's that for a catchy title?!?!?  What was your first thought?  Well, just so you know, that was the title of my devotion this morning.  Check out Rev 16:15.  So, here's the thing - are we walking around naked, not prepared for that visitor that may come unexpected, or not ready to face those problems we may have.  How about meeting a new friend and never finding out if they know your Lord and Savior?  Can you even imagine that?  Unfortunately, so many of us fall into this category.  We think we can take care of these things tomorrow or the next day.  Don't need to worry today!  Or maybe we are worrying today - more concerned about the here and now and not about the hereafter.  If Christ returned today would we be caught naked or (hopefully) with our clothes on!  We need to face each day as if this is the day the Lord will return - be about His work, reaching out to people, spreading His Gospel, in other words - fully clothed!!  Pray with me that each day we will be prepared.  Put on the armor of the Lord and be about His work fully clothed!!  Take care dear friends!  See you at the House!

LONG WEEK AHEAD

Ya know what the week looks like when you miss church on Sunday morning & evening!!  Well, that is what my week is going to be!!  I woke up yesterday morning (early!!) with a sore throat and coughing along with my usual aches & pains.  For the most part I live with the aches & pains, but the sore throat was something new added to the mix.  I was still thinking I would make it to church, but the longer I was up the worse it got.  So, long story short, I stayed home.  Come to find out, Bobby wasn't feeling all that great either, so actually we both stayed home.  The only plus to this story is that we got to watch David Jeremiah.  Now that is one preaching man!!!  He is going to be in Raleigh in October and I am trying to figure out if there is anyway we can go see him.  I think that would be awesome.  Back to life on the range - It is going to be a long week!!!  I think I will concentrate on being the witness God wants me to be and in doing that I won't have time to worry about a "long week".  How does that sound?  Pray with me that I will recognize the people God puts in my path as folks I need to talk to!  Take care dear friends!!  See you at the House!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!

I can't remember a time in my life when patriotic songs didn't "get to me"!!  When I hear John Phillip Sousa marches or our national anthem, I get chills.  My dad was in the Marine Corps during WWII; my husband was in the Air Force; one of our sons was in the Marine Corps, the other one in the Army.  I had a brother in the Air Force and my other brother was in the Army.  When our son was in Desert Storm, I really couldn't listen to any patriotic songs.  One that came out during that time was "God Bless the USA".  Yea, that one was tough to listen to, even to this day.  Having said all this, I must also say that it breaks my heart that so many people today have absolutely NO respect for the flag, home, or family.  Yesterday, Andy Griffith passed away.  I mention this because his TV show was all about the way it used to be.  We had respect for our families, the law, and we knew who Jesus Christ was!!  Most of us didn't go to church because we were made to, but because we wanted to.  We knew our friends would be there!  We always looked forward to visiting with friends and their families.  Let me say right now, to all the friends that I have known since childhood, thank you for the memories!!  Those that I have meet in the years since, thanks to you also for the memories!!  Take care and God bless!  See ya at the house!

LITTLE OR NOTHING

I have been trying to figure out how and why I started blogging!  I think it is because I have always thought I would like to keep a daily or weekly journal.  You know, just jot down my thoughts on this, that, and the other.  I know in all of my almost 70 years, I have probably started a dozen or more journals, but I never get very far with them.  I am just not a writer - you know, pick up a pen, get a notebook, and start writing!  It just doesn't happen!  I have tried!!  So, why does it work using the computer - I don't really know!!  Maybe being an administrative assistant most of my working career and using a word processer, then a computer makes it easier for me to think in front of a screen instead of looking at a wall!!!  Do ya think?!?!? Beats me!!  But I do know, I enjoy this, even when I haven't anything to say - which would be today!!!!  So, if you are reading this forgive me for rambling on with nothing important to say.  Chaulk it up to a Senior moment and check back in a couple of days.  Maybe I will have a brain storm and come up with something really clever to talk about.  Take care dear friends.  See ya at the House!!
